James Rumford lives in Honolulu, Hawai‘i and is an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator. His books have been translated into six languages and deal with a variety of topics, from stories of Hawai‘i to tales from distant lands.
James’s non-fiction work includes several biographies for children, most notably about Champollion, Ibn Battuta, and the Cherokee Indian named Sequoyah. His upcoming biography which he wrote and illustrated, From the Good Mountain, tells the story about how the first printed book was made.
He has received several awards for his writing and illustrating such as two Zolotow Awards, a Siebert Honor Award, two Jane Addams Peace Awards, and the Sugarman Award for American Biography.
